Call it destiny or a testament to Colorado’s arena soccer prowess, but three players were selected to represent the US National Arena Soccer Team in tonight’s exhibition game against El Salvador, and all three traveled from the Centennial State to try out at the combine.
Defender Marcus Jordan, goalkeeper Ezequiel “Casey” Gasson, and midfielder Tristen Heath could all see the field tonight when the USNAST takes on El Salvador at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA at 7:05pm.
Heath played for the USL’s Colorado Switchbacks last year, and this year all three are plying their trade with Colorado Springs FC in the UPSL. Gasson has played indoors for a number of PASL teams and Jordan was with the Colorado Blizzard last winter.
All three were represented at the combine by Colorado Springs FC Head Coach Chuck Estrada, who has played and coached in the PASL for a number of years.
“I want to thank (USNAST General Manager) Bernie Lilavois and the USNAST for this opportunity to look at three young and talented soccer players on this tour,” said Estrada. “I have known Bernie for years and time after time I have seen him step up and give back to this sport and create opportunities for up-and-coming players.”
“I think Colorado can be a hotbed for talented players and the sport of Arena Soccer in the near future,” said Lilavois. “Chuck is doing great work developing players and has been a strong advocate for his players at a number of our combines.”
The USNAST has upcoming combines scheduled in Boise, ID, Salt Lake City, UT and Las Vegas, NV. For a complete schedule go to http://www.usnast.com/events.
