Thanksgiving has come and gone, leaving MASL fans with two games to watch this weekend; Cedar Rapids vs. St. Louis and El Paso takes on Soles de Sonora. My predictions on these two games will be coming up soon. But first, time for this weeks Power Rankings.

1.) Milwaukee (LW: 1)

2.) Monterrey (LW: 2)

3.) San Diego (LW: 3)

4.) Soles (LW: 5)

5.) Baltimore (LW: 4)

6.) Florida (LW: 6)

7.) Tacoma (LW: 8)

8.) Kansas City (LW: 9)

9.) Syracuse (LW: 11)

10.) Cedar Rapids (LW: 12)

11.) Ontario (LW: 10)

12.) Harrisburg (LW: 7)

13.) El Paso (LW: 13)

14.) St. Louis (LW: 15)

15.) Turlock (LW: 14)

16.) Rio Grande Valley (LW: 16)

The top 3 stayed the same for me as Monterrey and San Diego took care of business last weekend, with the Flash sweeping Soles in a home and home series. San Diego blanked Ontario 8-0 behind my MVP of the Week, Chris Toth.

Here’s where it gets tricky: Four through six are tightly packed together. Yes Soles did get swept, but it was by Monterrey, who is running away with the Southwest Division. Baltimore squeaked out a win against Syracuse, then traveled to face Florida the next night, and lost. I still see Soles as a great team, so they’ll get my number 4 spot. When it comes down to it, Baltimore was tired. I think if this game was played one night later, on Sunday, they would have won. Florida played their tails off, but I see Baltimore as a better team.

So now the next question is, “Hey, why did Harrisburg drop 5 spots after beating St. Louis? They have a better record than Syracuse.” Both statements are true. Harrisburg did beat St. Louis in overtime last Sunday. And yes, they do have a better record than Syracuse. But, when I watch both teams, I see more out of Syracuse than I do Harrisburg. Syracuse almost took one from the mighty San Diego Sockers AND the Baltimore Blast… and the Ontario Fury…anyway, as of right now, Syracuse will be ahead of Harrisburg at this point.

Now, let me put on the Merlin hat for my Week 5 Predictions. Last week, I went 8-1, with my only defeat being in the first game between Soles and Monterrey. So, this week, I’m going to go with Cedar Rapids and Soles!

Saturday
Sonora>El Paso

Sunday
Cedar Rapids>St. Louis

So, there it is MASL Nation. What say you?

LAST WEEK: 8-1

OVERALL: 23-5
