Now that we’ve all recovered from the first part of the holiday season, it is time to move onto 2018. In Week 10, eight games are on tap, with one already being played as Ontario defeated Turlock in a fireworks display of goals. So, what teams will be heading into the New Year with wins? Let’s find out!

As I just mentioned, Ontario defeated Turlock. On Facebook, I correctly predicted this contest. These Wednesday games are great, but horrible for my weekly blog, as it normally comes out on Thursdays.

Tonight, Monterrey travels to Rio Grande Valley to face the Barracudas in two games this weekend. The Flash will go into 2018 undefeated as they will pull off victories in consecutive nights, with the second game being closer than the first.

In the other game on Friday night, Harrisburg travels to the OnCenter to face the Silver Knights of Syracuse. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Syracuse has Harrisburg’s number, and will win their first game at home this season. From here on out, any Eastern Division game is huge, and Syracuse will find a way to turn down the Heat.

On Saturday, Baltimore makes a road trip out west to face both the Kansas City Comets and Cedar Rapids Rampage. For my Blast fans out there, I have some bad news. Your team will lose at least one of these games. They win in Kansas City, but lose the next night in Cedar Rapids. Cedar Rapids gave the Blast issues in their first meeting this season, and I see the Rampage taking this by the same one goal margin as the previous game. If the Blast are to win both games, they will need huge games from William Vanzela, and the Blast defense.

Speaking of Kansas City, they travel to Milwaukee to face the Wave, who are surfing a nine-game winning streak to start the season, a franchise record. Do I see a double digit winning streak at the end of this game? Yes. Milwaukee, just like San Diego and Monterrey, will roll into 2018 with unblemished records.

The final game on Sunday is Florida traveling to face the St. Louis Ambush. Florida is coming off of a 7-5 victory against the Heat at home, and need to win this to keep their distance from the Knights and Heat in the race for second in the Eastern Division. Being a Knights fan, I’d LOVE to see an Ambush win. Unfortunately, Florida will win this game, with the score being closer than you think.

So to recap:

Monterrey > RGV (both nights)
Syracuse > Harrisburg

Baltimore > Kansas City

Florida > St. Louis
Cedar Rapids > Baltimore
Milwaukee > Kansas City

Last week, I went 3-1, with my only loss coming from El Paso getting destroyed by Soles. Is this a turning point in the season for Soles? Are they back? Will they make the playoffs? Yes, yes, and yes, but, they will have a tough time advancing in said playoffs, because of that team that’s undefeated, the Monterrey Flash.

I hope you all had a wonderful 2017. I am looking forward to what 2018 has in store for me, and the MASL. Happy New Year MASL Nation!
