In anticipation of the San Diego Sockers Alumni Night this Sunday (Feb. 11th) I invited Super Fan, Cowboys Salazar to join me at Presidio Park in San Diego with Sockers legend Paul “P3” Wright.
Paul began with the Sockers at the age of 19 and earned four championship rings in the original MISL during the early Sockers dynasty. He played with many of the players who’s numbers are retired in the rafters at the Valley View Casino Center and is a solid candidate for his number 3 to join those legends of the team. He returned to play in all three incarnations of the Sockers, ending his playing career by earning another three championship rings with the current team for a total of seven.
Paul holds the record for scoring the fastest goal in professional indoor/arena soccer history, an amazing three seconds from the kick-off. He was known for his lightning speed and currently operates his own conditioning business, Speed to Burn, working with professional athletes from all areas of sports.
Cowboys Salazar was the undisputed winner of a recent poll on MASL Off the Wall on Facebook as the biggest fan of Arena Soccer and is easily recognized by his trademark sombrero.
The three of us enjoyed an entirely ad lib conversation about Paul’s career and the evolution of the game over the years.
I hope you enjoy this viewing open discussion as much as I enjoyed being a part of it.
