Greetings MASL Nation! I’m sorry this is coming to you late, but fear no longer. I’m here to hopefully predict the rest of the Week 17 games correctly.
I’m going to take a loss for last night’s game, as I thought Monterrey would defeat Soles de Sonora. Congratulations to Soles on dethroning the only undefeated team in the MASL. This makes for a great first round match-up in the playoffs, if Sonora continues to stay in second place. As for the other games, I’m coming at you rapid fire!!
Tonight, Tacoma takes down Ontario. A must win for both teams in Ontario. Tacoma has too much firepower.
Syracuse will sweep St. Louis. These two teams have faced off twice already this season with the Knights taking both on the road. Syracuse is gaining momentum going into the final stretch of the playoff hunt. On the flip side….
San Diego sweeps Florida. This makes the road to the playoffs for Syracuse a little easier with Florida losing both games against the Sockers.
Baltimore clinches the Eastern Division by winning over Cedar Rapids. This game will be a good test for the Rampage, as they have their eyes on the Milwaukee Wave in the playoffs.
Tacoma defeats Turlock after beating Ontario on the road. Tacoma needs every win possible for that second playoff spot in the Pacific, and will get another one in Turlock.
Kansas City beats Harrisburg at home. Both teams are still mathematically in the playoff hunt, so the loser of this matchup is assured they will be starting the off-season sooner rather than later.
Milwaukee will avenge its loss last week to Baltimore. It’s the Blast’s second game in two days, and facing a hungry Wave team. Expect a big game from Ian Bennett.
Soles de Sonora wraps up their Week 17 schedule with a 2-0 record after dispatching El Paso. They will have so much momentum going into this game, it’ll be tough to stop the Tayou Train!
Cedar Rapids goes into Monterrey and falls just a bit short. Monterrey has already wrapped up the Southwest Division, so do they start resting players? I know it’s a little early to be doing that, but could it happen? It might.
Are you ready for some Monday Night Soccer? Where’s Hank Williams, or Carrie Underwood, or whoever does the theme song these days? Anyways, Cedar Rapids will be tired. They get Rio Grande Valley, a team that if firing on all cylinders can beat the Rampage. My upset of the week is the Barracudas over Cedar Rapids.
So to recap:
Tacoma > Ontario
Syracuse > St. Louis (Friday & Sunday)
San Diego > Florida (Friday & Saturday)
Baltimore > Cedar Rapids
Tacoma > Turlock
Kansas City > Harrisburg
Milwaukee > Baltimore
Sonora > El Paso
Monterrey > Cedar Rapids
Rio Grande Valley > Cedar Rapids
MASL Nation, the playoff races are heating up! Buckle in, it’s going to be a bumpy couple of weeks! I’m strapped in, are you?
Last week, I started off 1-2, but managed to win seven out of the last eight games, to end the week 8-3! I’ll take it!
LAST WEEK: 8-3
OVERALL: 107-34 (.759)
