This edition of Ponto Off the Wall the Sockers Locker takes us to the San Diego Sockers headquarters in Carlsbad, California about 30 miles north of their home field, the Valley View Casino Center. We were invited here to talk with the Sockers General Manager and legendary former player Sean Bowers.

Sean and I spoke openly about his time playing in college and his first signing with the Sockers in the original MISL. Sean spoke of his time with the Kansas City Wizards playing under Ron Newman and his time as the player/coach with the Baltimore Blast where he won a championship.

We talked about his time back with the Sockers playing under Brian Quinn, his time coaching for Mesa College’s women’s team, and later being brought in to the current incarnation of the Sockers under Phil Salvagio as a veteran player to help kick start the team in the PASL.

Sean discussed some of the changes that he has brought to the Sockers as the General Manager and how his defense oriented mind set has been adopted by the team with success on the field this season.

It has been an incredible experience for me to have access to the Sockers players, current and past, this season. Sitting down with Sean has been a personal highlight in our series of interviews.
