Now onto my picks!
TACOMA over Dallas: The Sidekicks make the trip to the Northwest undefeated, but unfortunately will leave the Northwest with their first “L” of the season. I don’t see a blowout like the Turlock game, but the Stars will win 9-3.
FLORIDA over Mississauga: The Tropics start off their first road trip of the season by visiting the MetroStars, who are ready to give their fans a taste of what is expected this season. I expect this game to be closer than a lot of people are thinking it will be. Give me the Tropics and 7-5 victory.
BALTIMORE over Utica: A 2-0 start for Utica City is EXACTLY what I predicted, so with that being said, a 3-0 start would be monumental for this franchise. But, they’re playing in Baltimore, a place where the Blast have been untouchable. Daniel Peruzzi is out for the season with an injury, and Lucio Gonzaga will be unavailable this weekend due to a suspension. Baltimore will find a way to win to even the season series 1-1. Blast 5, Utica 4.
ST. LOUIS over Harrisburg: This is my upset alert of the weekend. Both teams showed me a lot last weekend. The Ambush have quite a bit of speed, especially with “The Honey Badger” Antonio Manfut, while the Heat played with a lot of determination (for three quarters). I could see this game going either way, but I like to throw in at least one upset a week, so give me the Ambush 8-6.
UTICA over Florida: Both teams are on the road Saturday, making for a tired group of guys. We all saw what happened last week when Utica took down Baltimore after playing on the road last Saturday. Expect Utica to take down former Eastern Division rival Florida in their only meeting of the season. Utica 7, Florida 3.
ONTARIO over Dallas: Dallas continues their road trip this weekend in Ontario facing a Fury team that was barely tested by Turlock. Chris Toth will come up big once again, and Ontario goes to 2-0 by beating the Sidekicks 8-1.
Last week, I went 8-2, 1-0 on my upset pick, with Utica defeating Baltimore. I hope I’m wrong about this week’s match-up between those two teams.
MERLIN’S WEEK 2 FANTASY LINEUP:
I’m adding this merely for entertainment. Let me know if you’d like to continue to see this feature in my picks section. It will consist of one goalie, two defenders, a midfielder, and two forwards, with only one person from each team represented.
GOALIE: Chris Toth (Ontario), DEFENDERS: Lucas Montelares (Florida) and Adriano Dos Santos (Baltimore), MIDFIELDER: Antonio Manfut (St. Louis), FORWARDS: Nick Perera (Tacoma) and Joey Tavernese (Utica City)
MASL Nation, what is your game of the week? What say you?
