There’s a new apparel brand on the scene looking to break into the soccer market. Formed earlier this year by Antony de Varennes, SKADI Soccer has been flooding Twitter with some eye-popping designs.
So far SKADI has worked with the Umhlaba Foundation in Michigan, Dairy Cup clubs in Utah, and Sunflower State FC in Missouri among others, and has also started a new collaboration with @CustomMarks. SKADI’s philosophy is simple: To allow amateur and semi-pro clubs to have an affordable option that allows them to have a kit that meets their expectations, and represents the values of their club.
“I am doing complete kits so jersey, shorts and socks, and have recently begun to produce warmups too,” de Varennes said. “If a club needs something else, I can develop it, too.”
The 21-year old Quebecois has hit the ground running and has his sights set on establishing a presence across North America. De Varennes also writes about American outdoor soccer in his native French for his website Culture Soccer.
SKADI Soccer is so new that their website is still in the works, but their potential is on full display on Twitter and Facebook @SKADISoccer, and de Varennes can be reached by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
While de Varennes doesn’t have an MASL team to follow in his hometown of Quebec City or his current home of Montreal, he has kept an eye on the indoor circuit. “This year I followed the Dallas Sidekicks because Freddy Moojen is a friend of mine,” de Varennes says. “I never had the chance to play soccer in an arena unfortunately, but I remember Sofiane Tergou with the Baltimore Blast; what a technique he had!”
Turf and Boards, in partnership with SKADI Soccer, presents the MASL Jersey Project, a new series of concept jerseys for each of the league’s teams. Part I includes Utica City FC, the Mesquite Outlaws, and Turlock Cal Express.
I liked the jersey they had this year, but I renewed the concept. The lines are now horizontal. Since the club is primarily Utica City and has no real nickname, I’ve put the name of the city almost everywhere on the jersey.Antony de Varennes
Mesquite’s jerseys are already very successful. Hummel did a great job, so I did something completely different by inserting Mesquite’s skyline and incorporating a bit more of the club’s secondary colors, red and beige.Antony de Varennes
The Turlock sponsor is very present, so I had to insert it in the design. Afterwards, in order not overdo it, I decided to put the animal from their logo in the bottom right corner, lowering the opacity so that everything is in the details and the jersey remains sober.Antony de Varennes
